NOTHING FAWLTY ABOUT US!

While the team at Highlands Lodge has had many opportunities to chuckle at some of our day-to-day encounters with guests – and, truth be told, we have had to turn our heads for an eye roll or two at some of the more bizarre requests, there is nothing Fawlty about us!

Those who may be sufficiently mature (no disrespect intended) to remember the British sitcom Fawlty Towers will recall that it centered around a guesthouse run by a rather inept Basil and his bossy wife, Sybil, as well as their motley crew of staff. Episodes saw staff hiding in cupboards; trying to get rid of a dead body; shouting at guests they thought were deaf; eavesdropping; and even staking out guests who they thought were smuggling in women for a night that probably did not involve reading Shakespeare.

Nothing ever went right – literally – and the staff ran around like headless chickens.

Whilst we agree that managing a guesthouse presents one challenge after another … fortunately, the staff at Highlands Lodge do not resemble poultry of any kind. In fact, we pride ourselves on the fact that there is nothing “Fawlty” about us. We believe that we are simultaneously professional and fun loving, while always ready to serve with a heartfelt smile.

So, although, Fawlty Towers may have been worth a laugh, we know that this is not the experience that our guests will be seeking out at our Lodge. You, therefore, have our assurance that our amazing staff have not been trained in the “Fawlty” style and that we stand by our commitment to make you feel most welcome.

What a laugh it would be to read current day Google reviews of Fawlty Towers … and on that subject, we pride ourselves in our near perfect five-star rating from our guests. It’s improbable that the Fawlty’s would have fared as well as us … but you are most welcome to come visit and see for yourself.
